Final report on project „Promotion of Volunteers in Civil Protection“ now available

The EU funded project „Promotion of Volunteers in Civil Protection“ implemented by THW came to a successful end. The project aimed at promoting the involvement of volunteers in civil protection on a European level through the elaboration of recommendations for common minimum standards. In the course of the project, THW organized an international workshop with 90 participants from 27 European member states and EEA countries. In four work groups recommendations for minimum standards were elaborated regarding the working conditions and the training of volunteers in civil protection in Europe.

The workshop’s results concerning training, equipment and conditions of deployment, as presented in the final report, have already been adopted in Germany by the SKK, a joint national platform of all major civil protection institutions and organizations.

In order to strengthen the network created during the implementation of the project and to support the sustainability of the results obtained, THW intends to continue to play an active role in future projects, seminars and workshops in the field of civil protection and volunteering.
